Welcome

Introduction

We are called to be a light to the world. Below, you will find the words to one of my favorite hymns, "We are Called" by David Haas, as well as a link to a wonderful YouTube video that uses this hymn as the background music. Enjoy, and then read on!

We are Called by David Haas

1. Come! live in the light!
Shine with the joy and the love of the Lord!
We are called to be light for the kingdom,
to live in the freedom of the city of God!

Refrain: We are called to act with justice.
We are called to love tenderly.
We are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God.

2. Come! Open your heart!
Show your mercy to all those in fear!
We are called to be hope for the hopeless,
so all hatred and blindness will be no more!

3. Sing! Sing a new song!
Sing of that great day when all will be one!
God will reign and we'll walk with each other as sisters and brothers united in love!

Reason for this Blog

Regardless how out of control this world appears to be it is comforting for me to know that God is in control and He will be victorious.  God sent his Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to guide use on our earthly path.  Those who choose to believe in God the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit are called Christians.

As Christians, we are called to be a light to the world.  A bright light can help light the path for many. But, a dim light cannot light the path for even one person.  We all know a light requires an energy source. If the energy source is not renewed, the light will slowly dim.

One of the primary energy sources Catholic Christians plug into for recharging their light is weekly Mass attendance.  However, one hour a week is rarely enough to fully recharge us.  Fortunately, there are many good energy sources in and out of the Church that can supplement Mass attendance.  This site is my attempt to share those energy sources I have found that recharge my light in hopes they will recharge your light as well.

Today's technology makes it easier than ever to plug into many good sources. The sources I am sharing with you are all Internet-based.  Because they are Internet-based you can access these sources anytime that fits your schedule from any computer.  Many of these sources are also compatible with today's smart phones.  So, if you have a smart phone, you can also access many of these sources any place you are with your phone.

Content & Subjects

On this Blog you will find blogs pages I have created.  Each of the blogs contain Internet links to recorded radio programs and talks, recorded TV shows, web pages, and electronic documents related to a particular subject. The subjects of this content range from weekend mass readings with commentary to bible studies to discussions of world events from a Christian perspective.

I will be adding blogs to this site on a regular basis.  Each blog contains Internet links to the sources I want to share with you along with introductory and background information related to the source.

How to Use the Site

I would suggest you start by opening the Page titled "Resources and Recent Favorites". This page is updated weekly with links to the weekly mass readings and a couple of my favorite blogs I have posted on the site. Along with the weekly favorites, this page will also contain general links to the Internet sites I use for research and collecting information for blogs on this site.

After you have checked out the "Resources and Recent Favorites" page you can use the controls on the site to search for blogs with topics you are interested in or browse for topics that interest you in the Blog Archive section in the right margin.

God Bless You and I hope you find this blog site useful.
Gary
